You may have noticed that there is a comment box, right underneath an image on the landing page. This can be used to send a message to the uploader of an image, or to tell a friend about an image.
By using the @ symbol before a username you can notify the user about that image. An alert will be sent to their Activity Feed that they have been mentioned.
